Non academic
Success at university is not only about academic success, there is so much to be gained from becoming independent, enjoying the challenge and adventure of living elsewhere and embracing new experiences.
UK universities are exceptional at helping students to adjust to their new environment and immerse themselves in the experience:
International student support
Centres within the university dedicated to help international students adjust to life in the UK, to connect with other students and help with any administrative or practical issues.
Student Union
Every university has a Student Union, a hub for social gatherings, live music, activities, sports clubs and various societies: cooking, film, international … to appeal to every taste and interest. The Student Union is also responsible for representing and supporting students.

Freshers week
Before classes begin there is a week of activities including welcome events, stalls with the various societies and clubs on offer, evening socials and fun events, all with one objective; for students to meet each other and remove any nerves and worries that all students feel at first, whether they are home or international students. It is an all-engaging, positive week to ensure students get involved and make friends from day one, so that they feel excited about what is to come during their first year at university.
